COACHES TRAINING

WHAT IS COACHING?

Coaching is a partnership between a professional or internal (trained member of staff) coach and an individual or team that supports the achievement of extraordinary results, based on goals set by the individual or team. Through the process of coaching, individuals focus on the skills and actions needed to successfully produce their best results.

Through the coaching process the clarity that is needed to support the most effective actions, is achieved. Coaching accelerates the individual's or team’s progress by providing greater focus and awareness of possibilities leading to more effective choices.

Great results are a matter of the individual's or team’s intentions, choices and actions, supported by the coach's efforts and application of coaching skills, approaches, methods and tools.

THE ROLE OF A COACH

To engage the coachee in conversation utilising specific communications skills and questioning techniques to lead the coachee to answers, new possibilities, resolutions, decisions and insights;
To provide objective assessment and observations that foster the individual’s or team members’ enhanced self-awareness and awareness of others; practice astute listening in order to garner a full understanding of the individual’s or team’s circumstances;
Be a sounding board in support of possibility thinking and thoughtful planning and decision making;
Identify and champion opportunities and potential;
Encourage, stretch, challenge and commensurate with personal strengths and aspirations;
Foster the shifts in thinking that reveal fresh perspectives;
Challenge blind spots in order to illuminate new possibilities;
Support the creation of alternative scenarios;

Elsabé Manning is an award winning Life, Executive and Business Coach; Facilitator; Author of Up The Corporate Ladder – Professionalism in the Workplace (available in all major bookstores); Public Speaker and Consultant.

She is a member of the Coach Trainers Association of South Africa - A Special Interest Group of COMENSA (Coaches and Mentors of South Africa). The Committee is currently writing the unit standards for coaches training material for South Africa.

Elsabé has successfully trained professional coaches for the past three years including internal coaches for organisations such as the University of Fort Hare. The University of Johannesburg has just hired Elsabé’s services as well.

This is a four day training programme. Closed courses for organisations runs one day per week for four weeks. This gives the coaches an opportunity to complete projects and to practice their coaching skills and learn how to use the coaching tools provided on disc.

Individuals who would like to be trained as coaches need to attend a four-day (consecutive days) course at Success Factory’s premises in Observatory, Johannesburg.

TEAM RE-BUILDING

Elsabé Manning facilitates Team Re-Building workshops with great success. Rebuilding a team entails uncovering and resolving team issues and overcoming obstacles and healing broken relationships. This workshop is the beginning of lasting, trusting, respectful relationships. The entire team commits to pull together with clearly defined common vision, goals and objectives.

What constitutes a team? How do you recognise and create one? Frequently people misconstrue a group of people for a team. A group is simply that – a group of people. A team on the other hand is defined as a group of individuals assembled and organised, formally or informally, to work together to achieve some shared objective. A real team is a group of committed individuals working together towards clearly defined goals, and a common vision, in an atmosphere of mutual trust, truth, care and support for each other and a willingness to take specific action.

This workshop is the beginning of a journey to create an environment that promotes diversity and encourage personal style. Together the team will explore ideas to help each other on that journey. An atmosphere of mutual trust and respect will encourage serious introspection and discussion around issues.

PROFESSIONALISM IN THE WORKPLACE WORKSHOPS

Most organisations demand that their staff behave professionally at all times, but they do not offer any explanation of what that means, and staff do not readily admit their ignorance because they are 'supposed' to know what professionalism means. We simply assume that everyone knows how to conduct themselves in every situation. In addition many of us expect western manners and etiquette from all South Africans, leaving no room for error and totally disregarding African - and other - cultures.

PERFORMANCE EXCELLENCE WORKSHOPS
